Stronger and more grounded.
The Inward Method is breath-led strength training built to give you both
at 106 N Lee St in Old Town, Alexandria.
You've tried the big-box gyms. The trendy classes.
Pushing harder until something gave out.
You're not new to this.
You just haven't found the place that trains every part of you at once.
Imagine leaving class calmer than you walked in, and stronger every week you keep coming back.
Catching yourself standing taller at your desk.
Bending your knees without thinking twice when you pick something heavy up.
A body that responds instead of braces.
The Inward Method wasn't created because the world needed another workout.
It was created because something important was missing.
After years of teaching across the fitness industry, one pattern became impossible to ignore.
People were working hard, but many still struggled with poor movement, chronic tension, recurring aches, and feeling disconnected from their own bodies.
Too often, training focused on one piece while overlooking the bigger picture.
The Inward Method was created to reconnect those pieces.
Every class blends intentional breath, strength, mobility, recovery, and mindfulness into one integrated system, helping you move with more confidence, build lasting strength, and create a deeper connection to your body.
The Inward Method
Every class here is built on the same four things:
controlled resistance instead of momentum,
time under tension,
breath awareness,
and biomechanically sound movement patterns.
Different formats, the same method underneath.
Every class is breath-led.
Breath tells your nervous system whether it's safe to get stronger, so it's trained on purpose, every session, not left to chance.

Who It's For
This is for you if:
- You've trained before and know your body deserves more than another hard workout.
- You want to be challenged without the room turning into chaos.
- You want someone to actually watch your form, not just count your reps.
- You're in a season of life that needs structure more than intensity.
- You're ready to be coached, not entertained.
This isn't for you if you measure a good workout only by how wrecked you feel afterward,
or you're chasing the most extreme option in town.
That's a different studio.
This one is for people who plan to stay a while.
It takes consistency, discipline, and commitment.
Offer and FAQ
Reformer classes cap at 6 people per session, mat at 15.
When a class is full, it's full.
Is this a Pilates studio?
No. We don't teach a single discipline. We teach movement. The Inward Method is our own methodology, influenced by principles from Pilates, strength training, yoga, and breathwork, and designed to help your body move with greater strength, stability, mobility, and intention. Every class is built around breath, biomechanics, and purposeful programming, not one fitness philosophy.
I've never used a reformer. Is that a problem?
Not at all. Many of our members had never been on a reformer before their first class. Our instructors guide you through everything and closely coach your movement from the moment you walk in. While we often recommend taking a few mat classes first to become familiar with our coaching style and movement principles, it's not required. Whether you begin on the mat or the reformer, we'll meet you where you're at.
I'm not in great shape right now. Will I be able to keep up?
Absolutely. You don't need to be in shape before you start. Every exercise can be modified, and our instructors provide guidance throughout class based on where your body is today. The goal isn't to keep up with everyone else. It's to move well, build strength over time, and leave feeling better connected to your body.
How is this different from a regular strength or Pilates class?
Most fitness studios specialize in one style of training. We don't. Our programming is built around how the body moves and adapts, not around a single discipline. Rather than chasing exhaustion or simply counting repetitions, we focus on quality movement, breath, time under tension, and biomechanics to help you build strength that lasts.
I travel a lot for work. Does a membership still make sense?
It can. We offer several membership options to fit different schedules and lifestyles. If you travel frequently, we're happy to help you choose the option that makes the most sense for you.
Can I try it before committing to a membership?
Absolutely. Our Intro Experience includes two mat classes and two reformer classes, giving you the opportunity to experience both sides of The Inward Method before deciding which membership is the best fit.
